Yes, it's a business. All this would have been on a free site a few years ago. But in 2009, the rating agencies and the banks destroyed my life when they turned their junk into triple A. I was gut rehabbing properties in Chicago for ten years and was doing pretty well. But the mortgage mess and my wife walking away from me took everything I had. So now I am scrambling. Being in a position of not sharing what I could put out to the community was something I was not planning to do. I'm just thankful I have a good sense of humor and wonderful parents who took me back at 54. I know folks who couldn't laugh, and didn't have a loving family to pick them up off the floor. And they're not around anymore. I feel very lucky for what I have. And if you can laugh, you will survive.

BTW, "Inside Job" deserved its Oscar. There's a copy in every library. And that's why I will support Elizabeth if she ever runs for president. It will keep me from going postal on Wall Street.

Sounds like we've traveled parallel paths - still recovering from 2009 myself. Inside Job at the very least allowed me to shovel some of the guilt off my own shoulders, and informs my politics to this day. Blessings for hanging on...

It sounds like you have enough to create an archival image library, and like Getty Images, can do a fee based download service. Building a website to house it and handle transactions etc. will be a huge undertaking, but should auto-pilot in relatively short order.

I admire your entrepreneurial spirit, and pray for your success!

Yeah, I know what you mean about the guilt. Writing it out for a couple of years trying to understand my wife and who she was helped tremendously. And thanks for the prayers. I'll take every one I can get! Along with humor, working 16 - 20 hours a day at what you love also reduced the madness. I was a John Anderson independent because I hate both parties. Now I'm a Bernie and Liz guy. I understand the Trump presidency to a "T." And it' s the saddest thing I've seen in my 60 years of living. But in America, anything is possible. I'm a history buff and we've gone through a hellofallot worse in this country than what's happening now. The only truly unfortunate thing is that we can't afford the time. Because the earth doesn't care anything about our politics.

I think these are fantastic. Love the WVa one. After having just gone to the D&C show in Boulder last night and spending an hour or so at Shakedown St, I'd say Deadheads will spend money on absolutely anything related to the band. A few cents seems reasonable. I know what you mean about the blank squares in iTunes. My library is like that. But actually, I never thought about it and if it bothered me. I don't really think it does. But I'd still buy ones I like.

Thanks China cat for the kind words. Yeah, America has a history, and not all of it is good. Child labor especially. What I like is the color of the WV design. A sickly, diseased, Jaundice yellow.

It' s been a struggle pulling this thing together. But I can imagine the copyright and royalty negotiations are going to make the design issues pale in comparison. There will be at least a couple hundred of them. Everybody's going to want their cut, and rightly so. I think that Google Analytics might allow for transparency with sales and proportional payments to every rights holder annually because it would be impossible to shell out large amounts of money demanded upfront. I've been working on a shoestring for years and these big corporations and the individual photographers will have to have some flexibility or they are going to kill the baby very quickly. Nothing like this has ever been done before for the band. I just hope this new market can be visualized by the bean counters and the lawyers.

I like the dirt on John's chin and the sun glasses. Reminds me of the Beats in the late '50s and early '60s.

Thanks Vermoontains. Of the 565 Jerry files I have, I've completed about 2/3 with another 1/3 with placement imagery that needs graphics. That will go up at some point with the O&ITW, Clapton, ABB, etc. But right Now, may main goal is sprinting to finish of all 2,314 GD covers by the end of the summer.

Can you get interns, you know free labor.
How about teaching a class in Photoshop and give the students "projects" to complete. You would be doing them a favor too if they don't know the music.

My Photoshop experience is very limited as an oldster. And I'm still have CS2. More than likely, graphic students probably would know more than me anyway. Much more than having technical software ability is having an educated, seasoned eye for the work. Besides, one aspect of this project is the individual nature of each design. When I started this in 2000, I consciously chose to not use the same font twice, which is very difficult to do. Having students try to equal my standards and be able to not repeat a font might be asking more than they could deliver. I'm almost done with the GD and I'm in a happy place with Jerry's stuff. All this being done by Christmas - for me - is rolling off a log after seventeen years.

Hey, thanks run!!! Nice catch! After 2000 designs, I guess I'm getting a little punchy and blurry-eyed. ;^ )

Guys, I could use some advice. My brother-in-law suggested using social media like Twitter as a way to promote the Kickstarter cover project and I've never Tweeted once. Obviously I have to get an account, but I need all the help I can get with suggestions on who I should Tweet to or the addy of significant tweeters (though I don't know if that is relevant). I can't afford the 10k to walk into a media company to get my project of the ground. So I thought I'd start talking to my young nieces and nephews to help in CO for advice. But I'm going to need a lot more help from the community besides. So thanks in advance for your input. Jack
